On-Line Family and Friends! I
hope all of you are doing fantastic in
this New Year!
are embarking on a new journey of life, and the next 358 days
will be filled with new hopes, new excitement, new joys and new
we embrace this new year we must also embrace the new awareness
that is already prepared for us. We
must be conscious of past experiences; which I’m sure was
filled with ups and downs…good days and bad days.
We must also be aware of our inner feelings and look at
the growth and deepening of our relationship with our higher
self; which in turn will help build the deepest and most
profound opportunities of our lives.
yeah, we must let go of the past and our self-imposed
limitations, and be able to identify and embrace
opportunities…the opportunities which will allow us to move
forward, grow, and move into our highest and best.
The opportunities which will take us further into the
greatness of our lives ~~~ take us to more than we are at this
moment ~~~ take us to a place of deep/heartfelt gratitude and
positive, strong, hopeful and focused is key!
It helps us celebrate our creativity; and assures us that
this year will certainly be different for many of us; we will
have little pressure, peace, less stressed, and just overflowing
with absolute happiness. Ultimately,
using this approach will help turn our visions and dreams into
reality; giving us the best chance to be successful in achieving
our goals for 2011.
2011 allows us to have a new beginning…REBIRTH...a new
perspective…a new choice. "This is the first day of
the rest of your life." "This is the moment."
"The future is now."
Let’s live it…live this champagne life, and rise to
the best we can be!!! If

decided to "back up" a bit and say that
bringing in the New Year on the home front was quiet. We
spent it with our pet; counted down the time as the ball dropped
in Time Square, New York; and precisely at midnight we
made the traditional New Year toast. A
little bit later we decided to get dress and step out for an
hour to continue toasting with a few friends. That turned
out to be very nice. New Year's day was very interesting
too, because I did something new...I actually cooked an entire
traditional New Year's Dinner [with black eyed peas and greens
~~~ and much more tasty and exciting dishes] It was
I continue "vibing" with you, I find myself reflecting
on the bizarre natural occurrences that have taken place in the
first 6 days of 2011. Oh...dear, I feel the pain for the
many who lost everything due to the 20 deadly tornadoes that
touched down in Arkansas, Missouri and Mississippi on New Years
Day. Additionally, I can't help but wonder what made over
5000 birds [Red-winged
Grackles, and Brown-headed
Cowbirds] fall out the sky [dead] in Arkansas due to
blunt force trauma [confirmed by the State Veterinarian Dr.
George Bradley.] It's also baffling to learn about the
dead fish that washed up on the coast in Arkansas as well.
Hum, I'm hearing a lot of silly explanations, but none of
them makes any sense.
here locally in Maryland a day or so ago over 2 million dead
fish washed up along the Chesapeake
Bay. Still no logical explanation was
given!!! It has also been reported that hundreds
of snapper fish were found dead on the beaches of Coriander
Peninsula in New Zealand a few days ago, many with their eyes
missing. All so very strange...don't you agree??
Perhaps these are some signs that the predictions and theories
about 2012 are real, and these unexplained things are the
beginning of the final days [since it is predicted 2012 is
don't even know what to think ~~~ regarding the 2 packages that
ignited/detonated on Thursday here in Maryland at 2 State
Government Buildings. One package was addressed to
Governor O'Malley and ignited in a mail facility at a State
Building near the Maryland State House in Annapolis, Maryland;
and the 2nd addressed to the Transportation Secretary at the
Department of Transportation in Hanover, Maryland (minutes
from my home). In one of the packages some sort of a
note was found; and it has been reported that the writer/person
who sent the packages was complaining [in the note] about
electronic highway signs alerting people to call the authorities
if they see anything suspicious. Crazy huh????
Thankfully there were no serious injuries.
seriously must be very vigilant in 2011, and we must be aware of
everything and everyone around us. We are living in some
of the craziest times, so we must do everything in our power to
be safe and keep our family safe as well.
of us are still mourning the lost of singer-songwriter R&B
Legend Teena Marie "Lady T", whose given name
is Mary Christine Brockert". Teena passed away in her
sleep on December 26th, 2010.
Marie "Lady T" was an outstanding
songstress who dazzled R&B audiences around the globe for
many...many years with her soulful/powerful voice and commanding
high-energy stage performances. Yes, "Lady T"
was an icon in R&B music; and her range, vocal strength and
clarity was unbelievable. When she belted out her songs
you would instantly get chills, and it made you feel all warm
and fuzzy inside.
T" rose to distinction in
the late 70s, just about the time I arrived in America.
During my first year in high school, and while sneaking around
with my husband "Todd" [then boyfriend] "Lady
out times together ones we will never forget. Actually, it
and her personal partner and very good friend Funk Superstar -
the legendary "Rick James."
fondly recall the day one of the 1970s through the 1980s
Washington DC's popular Radio Station "OK 100"
dropped Rick and Teena's "Fire and Desire".
Wow, it was out of this world!!!! I will never forget the
highs I felt when "Lady T" belted out her
lyrics in this song, [which was after Rick performed 2 verses
prior to her] She sweetly sang: "Love
them and leave
them (oh). That's what I used to do. Use and abuse them
(whoa). Then I laid eyes on you. It was pain before pleasure
(oh). That was my claim to fame With every measure. Tasted your
teardrop stains, yeah." OMG, it was awesome and ohhhh
my recollection Teena released 13 studio albums, of which
6 went platinum on the US R&B Chart, and six altogether were
gold. From all accounts her 1984 single "Lovergirl"
was her biggest hit that reached # 4 on the Billboard Hot 100
Chart. But to me all her songs were hits. My all time
favorite Teena Marie song is "Deja Vu - I was
here before", the lyrics are outstanding and absolutely
Used To Be A Queen You Know. On An Island By The Sea. With
Rainbow Colored People, Hah! Happy As Can Be. We Never
Had A Problem. There Never Was A Care. The Love
Was Ever flowing And It's Feeling Shared. And I Can
Feel This for Sure……….Yes I Have. I Can Feel
It. In My Heart I Feel It!. I Can
Feel It. My Soul Feels Like the Universe. The
Baskin Never Ends. The Stars To Me Are Children.
The Babies Are My Friends."
favorite is "Casanova Brown". There is
one more of Teena's song I love quite a bit which is
entitled "Happy" [This was a duet with Rick
James and it was released in 1982.] Gosh, that too is
truly a lovely song!!!
Marie "Lady T" made a tremendous impact in the
music scene on her way to fame, and she was indeed an incredible
singer, a strong woman, a great mother and even a fighter who
made history. In-fact, she sued Motown Records in a
landmark court case in 1982 for nonpayment of royalties.
After a long costly battle with Motown, she won her case.
As a result of this lawsuit, a "Teena Marie Bill"
was passed by The US Congress [Which is still in legislation
today to protect artists' rights.] On of the things
the bill states is that a label cannot legally keep an artist
contractually bound if they refuse to release their records.
Teena Marie "Lady T" rest in peace. We
will forever enjoy her music, and it will always melt our
hearts. May her family and friends obtain comfort from the
lovely memories they built together.
I close for this weekend, I want to also send our sincerest
condolences to the family and friends of Sir Ellis Clarke,
President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago 1976. Sir
Ellis passed away during the Christmas Holidays on December 30th,
2010; and many in Trinidad are observing his contributions to the
Alma Mater’s Bell!
heard my Alma Mater’s voice
its pealing throat to me;
sounds which once more brought me home,
walk down lanes of memory.
Howard hill, where Founder stands,
many hours that I spent
knowledge, deeply stacked,
try to grasp what ideas meant.
friendships wrought across the world;
forge a link in mankind’s plan;
ideals sifted through the mind
wisdom, showing how we can.
meeting west, north crossing south;
world distilled on Howard hill.
chains of bondage loosed and free,
visions raised with burnished will.
pass those exams, then to learn,
it is now the tasks begin.
hear my Alma mater’s bell
Appeal to all that’s good within.
